Our Board of Trustees
The 12 trustees of the York Region District School Board are responsible for overseeing a thriving and progressive educational system including over 200 schools. Trustees are elected by ratepayers (in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act) and empowered under the Education Act to set policy for the operation of all public schools in York Region.
Two student trustees, elected by their peers, act as a liaison between the school community and the Board. They give the student population a meaningful voice in Board deliberations and act as a conduit for the flow of information and ideas between trustees and the student body.
Our Mission Vision and Values
Our Mission, Vision and Values are at the core of everything we do, and every decision we make as an organization. It is the way we as an organization approach business and demonstrates our commitment to life-long learning.
Our long term goals are identified in the recently adopted Trustee’s Multi-Year Plan. The Plan has a sharp focus on student achievement and well-being, the delivery of effective and sustainable programs and the effective stewardship of Board resources.
