Principal Selection Process​

There are two ste​p​s to the application process:

1.) Pre-Application Process with BetterEducateSee also: Quick Reference Guide​

2.) Register and Apply to the Job Posting through Apply to Education (this includes uploading your My Leadership Profile from BetterEducate into the Resume section on Apply to Education)

1. Pre-Application Process (BetterEducate)

  • Candidates are required to create an account in BetterEducate by creating a Username and Password in order to access required documents for the application process.
  • Once an account is created, candidates will receive an auto-generated email from YRDSB indicating Welcome to BetterEducate.com in the subject line.
  • Candidates will then be able to log into https://bettereducate.com/yrdsb in order to access their dashboard where the “My Leadership Profile” is located.  
  • The completion and submission of the candidate's “My Leadership Profile” will inform the application as part of the selection process through the demonstration of the candidate's leadership actions and corresponding evidence of impact.
  • Please note that a resume and cover letter is not submitted as part of the application process, as the completion of the candidate’s “My Leadership Profile” replaces this through identification of leadership experiences and evidence of impact.
  • The newly-createdYRDSB Leadership Framework Self-Assessment Tool which is located on the candidates BetterEducate Dashboard and can serve as a useful tool for candidates to reflect on their leadership actions and impact as they prepare for the selection process. Please Note: that completion of this tool is not a requirement and is not submitted as part of the selection process. Candidates are encouraged to use this resource as part of their preparation for the selection process.

 

2. Application to Posting (October 22 to November 2, 2020) through Apply to Education

  • a) After Candidates complete their “My Leadership Profile” on BetterEducate, they now create a profile on Apply to Education and upload their documents to ATE.
  • b) Once their ATE profile has been completed, candidates download and save the PDF document (entitled, “Candidate’s name, Leadership Profile”) to their computer.
  • c) Candidates will then upload their saved “Leadership Profile” PDF to the Resume link on Apply to Education.

 

Steps to Register with Apply to Education (ATE) and to Apply to the Job Posting

To register and apply for a job posting, you must complete all five (5) steps:

1.)  Register with Apply to Education (registration is completed through the ATE website​)

2.) Complete a Portfolio (e.g. personal information, work experience, professional supervisory references, etc.)

    • Upload Better Educate documents before applying for the Principal Job Posting form to ATE portfolio

    • ​Please note: this process can take between 24 hours and 48 hours for ATE to approve or activate you before you can then apply to a job posting

4.) View and Apply to a Job Posting(s) (Apply to position once you have your Better Educate documents completed and ready to upload)
