Stages of the Process

There are 3 stages to the Vice-Principal Selection process, each assessing candidates on different aspects of their leadership skills and abilities.  A resource has been developed which provides details of the process and further explains all of the stages.  Preparing for the Vice-Principal Selection Process will be available on the WWW and the BWW. 
 
If successful, candidates will receive communication from the Recruitment team and will move to the next stage of the process. 
 

Timelines

Stage 1 - Application


January 6, 2020


Online Application is available
including:

  • Résumé to be completed on a Candidate Resume Template (No Cover Letter)  (this should be uploaded under "Supporting Documents, Additional Documents")
  • Completion of the YRDSB Leadership Framework Self-Assessment Tool  (this should be uploaded under "Supporting Documents, Additional Documents")
  • Note:  Prior to completion of the Résumé Template or Self-Assessment, please download and save to your computer and then proceed to complete the forms using Adobe Acrobat Pro.  Once completed, save your Résumé and Self-Assessment files to your computer.  More details will be provided at the Information Session
  • Three references including an immediate supervisor, Superintendent and another professional reference

  • ​Online application closes at 11:30 p.m.
     
  • Selection Team will review all applications for eligibility by criteria and determine a long-list to move forward to Stage Two

Stage 2 -  Interview

 
February 26 - March 2, 2020
  • Oral presentation - This question will be sent to the candidate one week in advance and is presented at the start of the interview (no technology will be permitted unless required as an accommodation)
  • Respond to two interview questions related to the candidate's YRDSB Leadership Framework Self-Assessment Tool
  • Respond to four scenario and/or behaviour-based interview questions (these questions will be shared upon arrival
  • Selection Team will review and score Stage Two responses and determine a short-list to move forward to Stage Three

Stage 3 - Reference Checks

 
  • References (Three references will be contacted only in the final stage of the process)

o   Current Direct Supervisor
o   Self-Selected Superintendent
o   Professional Reference
