Accessibility Resource Hub

Welcome to our Accessibility Resource Hub!

The Accessibility Resource Hub is a centralized web space where you can find new and updated resources, guidelines and checklists on accessibility. From general core skills to specific accessibility guidelines, the Accessibility Resource Hub offers a range of introductory and user-friendly resources to support system learning about how to make our learning and working environments more accessible for all.

As a system, our goal is to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to remove barriers in support of all learners (Champion Equity and Inclusivity).

Icon for Multi-Year Accessibility Goal of YRDSB to "Understand Accessibility as a Process"For our underserved and underperforming students with disabilities, our accessibility goal is to actively identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility in order to create opportunities for full participation and inclusion (Understanding Accessibility as a Process).

One way we are committed to proactively removing and preventing barriers to accessibility is by promoting and using the Accessibility Resource Hub. At this time, most of the resources on our Accessibility Resource Hub support digital or web accessibility given that we use digital technology in almost all of our learning and working environments at the Board. If you use a computer, laptop, tablet or even a smart phone to create, edit and share content, then digital accessibility applies to you.

For print (or hard copy) accessibility, we recommend the CNIB Foundation's Clear Print Accessibility Guidelines as a best practice resource.

Accessible Content Core Skills

A good starting point is the 7 core skills for creating accessible content. You may already be familiar with some of the core skills, while others may offer some new learning. Understanding and applying these 7 core skills will help you make content and information that is more accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.

Additional Accessibility Resources

Any questions related to the Accessibility Resource Hub or any specific resources can be directed to the Board’s Accessibility Officer.

We hope the Accessibility Resource Hub will support more accessible learning and working environments across YRDSB, and we look forward to posting and sharing new resources soon.
