Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Page Content As with each school in the York Region District School Board, Ballantrae P.S. supports student learning through the curriculum standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education and many other co-curricular activities.
Our school participates in a wide variety of inter- and intra-mural sports and our team, The Bulldogs, have been very successful. As well, we have primary and junior choirs, which perform for special occasions. Trekking for Trillium is a relatively new activity which Ballantrae students and teachers participate in, and through which we promote fitness as well as raise funds for Camp Trillium. Trekking alternates annually with the Terry Fox Run, which is our other "social service" fundraiser. In addition, we have Library Club, and House Leagues, Homework Club, and Co-operative Games groups.
Ballantrae Public School also:
- promotes a safe and supportive learning environment. This is done through the Board's Safe Schools Policy and Procedures and the Character Education / Antiracism Initiatives
- provides Special Education Programs
- is an Eco School focused on environmental improvement initiatives, such as greening strategies litterless lunches, and re-naturalized habitats. Annually, students from JK to grade 8 participate in tree planting at various sites in the Whitchurch-Stouffville area.
We are also very proud to offer the following programs to our students:
- Anti-Bullying Programs – Playground Leaders
- School Service Program for students – lunch / milk monitoring, office assistants, sound / technology team, Eco-Leaders, Eco-Kids, Student Council, Foster Child
- Guest speakers, story tellers, multicultural arts workshops and presentations
- Ongoing formal and informal social skills counseling
- Progressive Discipline Model
- VIP program
