Welcome to Barbara Reid Public School!

I feel honoured to introduce myself to the Barbara Reid Public School community as its new Principal for the upcoming school year.  We have been through several tumultuous years and I am hopeful that September will bring a return to normalcy as we continue to support student well-being and achievement. 

We have a skilled and energetic staff that is committed to providing students with quality programming that focuses on the development of literacy and numeracy skills while tapping into their natural curiosity to learn through inquiry.  We model a strong belief in the importance of fostering a safe, caring, respectful and inclusive environment in order to provide the conditions for students to maximize their academic achievement, well-being and sense of belonging.  We are very proud of our Touchstones which are guiding principles based around the themes of Respect, Unity, Strength and Heart.

Parents and guardians put an immense amount of trust in our school to educate their child(ren), to keep them safe, and to nurture their social-emotional well-being.  We will work on continuing to earn that trust by building strong partnerships with parents and guardians based on transparency and clear communication.  One of the best ways for parents and guardians to become a part of their child’s education is by attending School Council meetings. School Council is an advisory body that allows parents and guardians to learn more about the school and to provide their perspective as to its needs.  School Council meeting dates will be communicated through our weekly community ebulletin.  We hope to see you there.
