We are privileged to work with you and your children in a partnership that focuses on “empowering all students to become engaged and caring citizens”.  We will strive to build strong links with students, parents and the school staff.  At Herbert H. Carnegie, we strive to ensure that each member of our diverse community is valued, nurtured and encouraged in an environment that provides equitable opportunities for all students to succeed.

We are proud of our school and continue to work together to ensure it is a vibrant part of the community. We are committed to working closely with parents and students to ensure that all voices are included as we work to reach the goals we have identified. The staff at Herbert H. Carnegie P.S. is committed to providing a safe learning environment with high curriculum and behavioural expectations.  We continue to strive to develop the cognitive, social, emotional and physical needs of all our students. We must never forget that along with the Ministry expectations, school must always be a safe, fun and engaging place, so that students wake up each morning excited to get to school.

Our school improvement work is in the area of Mathematics, Equity and Indigenous Education and Mental Health/Well-Being.  Students are learning how to approach and analyze information, and articulate their findings. We are also building a common understanding of assessments, and how they inform the next step of our teaching to ensure each child’s needs are met. The well-being of all students forms a very important foundation to support and enhance each student’s learning skills.  To further support the focus, staff is using the Mindfulness Program which has been created to assist students in developing lifelong wellness skills. To ensure that our students have the knowledge, skills and attitudes to flourish as 21st Century citizens, we provide them with opportunities to use technology as they learn from and with each other.

We are especially proud to be named after Dr. Herbert Carnegie, a Canadian hero. Our staff and students honour the work he did for the community through their commitment to always staying true to their character, demonstrating integrity every day, and abiding by the Future Aces Creed. As a school, we work to recognize our students’ accomplishments and character.

At Herbert H. Carnegie, we understand that parents, grandparents and guardians are children’s first teachers. We work together as a team in the education journey of each and every child to support families and include them in school life.  Parents support our school community in many ways. Our School Council is very active and supports our school through volunteering and fundraising.

It is our goal that every visitor, parent or community member feels welcomed as they enter the school. The secretaries and administrators are available to answer questions or offer support. We look forward to working with you.

We share a great common interest – your children!  Please do not hesitate to contact the school to ask questions or express any concerns you have regarding your child or their education.  We welcome the opportunity to talk with you!

Your partner in education,
