Computers:
Classes booked into the library for research have priority (for both computer space and table space).  If any computers are left over they may be used for individual research. When you login to a library computer you are agreeing to abide by:  Acceptable Use of Technology Policy

Printer:
A print credit machine is located at the main library desk close to the printer/photocopier.  Students must put coins in this machine in order to print their work.  Students must have their student number and password in order to put the money into their specific account.  Printing costs are 5 cents per page for black and white and 50 cents per page for colour printing.  The colour printer is located in Seminar E which is connected directly to the library.

Photocopier:
The photocopier and printer are a single machine.  The coin-operated photocopier is available for student use at a cost of 10 cents per page (black and white copies only).  The coin box for the photocopier is mounted directly on the photocopier/printer.  Money deposited in the print credit machine cannot be used for photocopying.

Expectations:
The primary role of the library is for research and quiet reading.  In keeping with the Ontario Library Association's recent document "Together for Learning" the library staff have attempted to create spaces for collaboration while respecting the need for quiet study.  The following rules and expectations are put in place to maintain this delicate balance:

  • Students may use the library while on lunch, spare or with teacher permission during classes.
  • No food is to be consumed in the library.
  • Students can drink only water from plastic bottles.
  • Students can only have hot drinks in reusable travel mugs with sealed lids.
  • A maximum of four students to each of the round tables.
  • Computers are for research and any game playing is not acceptable.
  • Students socializing with no work materials will be asked to go to the cafeteria.
  • Students talking on cell phones will be asked to leave the library.
