October is Eye Health Month: “Look. See. Learn.”

Parents, did you know 80% of learning occurs through the eyes?

A child’s eyes are constantly in use in the classroom and at play. Ensuring your child has good vision is critical to successful learning and healthy development.

If your child is in Junior Kindergarten, they can receive one free pair of glasses (frames and lenses), if required, with their OHIP-covered eye exam.

The glasses are provided through the Ontario Association of Optometrists Eye See…Eye Learn program and funded by the Government of Ontario.

Students may access the Eye See…Eye Learn program the summer before they begin Junior Kindergarten and throughout their Junior Kindergarten year.

Make sure your JK child can see to the best of their ability by booking a comprehensive eye exam with a participating optometrist.

Learn more at Eye See Eye Learn or email kevin.stewart@yrdsb.ca.

Annual eye exams are covered under OHIP for children up to 19 years of age.
The Eye See…Eye Learn program is for JK students only.
