NHS Advanced
Placement Program
Newmarket High School offers Advanced
Placement Courses (AP). The Advanced Placement Program allows high school
students to undertake university-level academic learning in AP courses.
This program, administered by the College Board, is a cooperative educational
endeavour between secondary schools and Canadian universities/American
colleges. Students are given the opportunity to show that they have
mastered the advanced material by taking AP exams, for which they may receive
credit, advanced placement or both from thousands of colleges and universities
that participate in the AP Program.
AP courses make substantial academic
demands on students. However, the AP experience offers numerous benefits
including helping students develop the intellectual skills and self-discipline
needed for university. Information about Advanced Placement courses
at NHS is available from the Advanced Placement Coordinator.
