Healthy Active Living Education, Female: PPL108
​This course emphasizes regular participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that promote lifelong healthy active living. Students will learn movement skills and principles, ways to improve personal fitness and physical competence, safety and injury-prevention strategies. They will investigate issues related to healthy sexuality and the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and will participate in activites designed to develop goal-setting, communication, and social skills. Proper gym clothes must be worn in order to participate in this course. The school does have a phys-ed uniform that is available for purchase at a cost of $25 for anyone who is interested.

​This course is for students enrolled in the French Immersion program.
This course emphasizes regular participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that promote lifelong healthy active living. Students will learn movement skills and principles, ways to improve personal fitness and physical competence, safety and injury prevention. They will investigate issues related to healthy sexuality and the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, and will participate in activities designed to develop goal-setting, communication, and social skills. ​This course focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that have the potential to engage students' interest throughout their lives.  Students will be encouraged to develop personal competence in a variety of movement skills, and will be given opportunities to practice goal-setting, decision-making, coping, social, and interpersonal skills. Students will also study the components of healthy relationships, reproductive health, and personal safety.  Improved physical fitness through aerobic and weight training is the main objective of this course.  This introductory course gives students the opportunity to learn more about their personal fitness.  Students explore the principles of training and apply them to their cardiovascular and muscular training programs.  Activites may include the use of weight training machines and free weights, resistance band and plyometrics training, core strengthening and flexibility tasks.  Healthy living components include nutrtion, sexual and reproductive health, substance use and abuse and decision-making.

Healthy Living and Large-Group Activities with an Emphasis on Basketball, Co-ed: PAL301
​This course enables students to further develop the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices now and lead healthy, active lives in the future.  Through large-group activities with an emphasis on basketball and through exposure to a broader range of activity settings, students enhance their movement competence, personal fitness, and confidence.  Students also acquire an understanding of the factors and skills that contribute to healthy development and learn how their own well-being is affected by, and affects, the world around them. Students build their sense of self, learn to interact positively with others, and develop their ability to think critically and creatively.

Outdoor Education, Co-ed: PLF4M
​This course is designed for self-motivated and self-disciplined students interested in experiencing the out-of-doors in a positive manner. This course will provide opportunities to apply skills and knowledge as they relate to a practical outdoor education experience. Major theory components of the course include group dynamics, risk management, leadership, trip planning, and environmental awareness. This course will be physically challenging and may include program enhancement activities such as canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, snow shoeing, skiing/snowboarding, rock climbing, swimming, orienteering, first aid, camp craft, survival skills, hiking, caving, scuba diving and fishing. This course will include a program enhancement five day, four night wilderness canoe trip. Please note that the total costs for the program enhancement activities will be approximately $400.

​This course focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle with an emphasis on physical fitness.  Students will develop individual fitness plans to improve or to maintain a high level of fitness.  Regular work-outs will include an emphasis on weight training and cardiovascular training.  This course will also focus on designing training programs for specific sport development - preseason, season, and post-season training.  In addition, students will be given opportunities to refine their decision-making, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills, with a view of enhancing their mental health and their relationships with others.

Exercise Science: PSK4U1
​This course focuses on the study of human movement and of systems, factors, and principles involved in human development. Students will learn about the effects of physical activity on health and performance, the evolution of physical activity and sports, and the factors that influence an individual’s participation in physical activity. The course prepares students for university programs in physical education, kinesiology, recreation, and sports administration.

PREREQUISITE: Any Grade 11 university or university/college preparation course in Science, or any Grade 11 or 12 open course in Health and Physical Education.
