Grade 9

AMI1O2 – Grade 9 Beginner Band
This course emphasizes the performance of music at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill and is aimed at developing technique, sensitivity, and imagination. Students will participate in creative activities that teach them to listen with understanding. They will also learn correct musical terminology and its appropriate use. This course is geared towards students who have little to no experience on a band instrument.

AMI1O1 – Grade 9 Experienced Band
This course emphasizes the performance of music at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill and is aimed at developing technique, sensitivity, and imagination. Students will participate in creative activities that teach them to listen with understanding. They will also learn correct musical terminology and its appropriate use. This course is geared towards students with one or more years of study on a band instrument.
 
AMR1O1 – Grade 9 Band Repertoire
This course emphasizes the performance of music at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill and is aimed at developing technique, sensitivity, and imagination. Students will participate in creative activities that teach them to listen with understanding. They will also learn correct musical terminology and its appropriate use. This course is co-requisite with the day course (AMI1O1 and AMI102) All students enrolled in the day course must also take this after/before school credit.
 
AMV3O2 – Grade 9 – 12 Vocal Repertoire
This is an after/before school credit. This is considered an extra ninth credit on top of the regular courses that students take at school. This is a full-year course.
Grade 10
AMI2O1 – Grade 10 Band
This course emphasizes performance of music at an intermediate level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill. Student learning will include participating in creative activities and listening perceptively. Students will also be required to develop a thorough understanding of the language of music, including the elements, terminology, and history. It is highly recommended that students have already taken AMI1O1 or AMR1O1 when taking this course. This course is NOT a beginner level course and students must be able to read music and play their instrument.
 
AMR2O1 – Grade 10 Repertoire
This course emphasizes performance of music at an intermediate level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill. Student learning will include participating in creative activities and listening perceptively. Students will also be required to develop a thorough understanding of the language of music, including the elements, terminology, and history. This course is co-requisite with the day course (AMI2O1) All students enrolled in the day course must also take this after/before school credit.
 
AMV3O2 – Grade 9 – 12 Vocal Repertoire
This is an after/before school credit. This is considered an extra ninth credit on top of the regular courses that students take at school. This is a full-year course.
 
Grade 11
AMI3M1 – Grade 11 Band
This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of various kinds of music, including baroque and classical music, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will perform technical exercises and appropriate repertoire, complete detailed creative activities, and analyse and evaluate live and recorded performances. They will continue to increase their understanding of the elements of music while developing their technical and imaginative abilities.
 
AMR3M1 – Grade 11 Repertoire
This course develops students' artistic knowledge and skills through the performance of music and the preparation of music productions. Students will perform appropriate works, particularly works in contemporary popular styles. Independently and in groups, they will also plan, market, and produce music productions, making use of appropriate technology, and will evaluate the results. It is highly recommended that students take the day course in addition to this after-school credit.

This is an after/before school credit. This is considered an extra ninth credit on top of the regular courses that students take at school. This is a full-year course.
Grade 12
 
AMR4M1 – Grade 12 Band
This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of music from the romantic period and from the twentieth century, including jazz, popular music, art music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will concentrate on developing interpretive skills and the ability to work independently. They will also complete complex creative projects in which they make use of new technologies.
 
AMR4M1 – Grade 12 Repertoire
