and welcome. Registering for school takes a few easy steps.
If any of the following apply, please visit the Reception Centre
· Students new to Canada (residing in Canada less than 6 months)
· Students transferring to YRDSB from home schooling in Ontario
· Students transferring to YRDSB from other boards in Ontario/other provinces with time-sensitive documents, e.g. work permits, refugee claimants
· Returning students from outside Canada who have been residing elsewhere internationally for over one year
All other students should register as
follows:
Step 1: Using our School Locator, find your home school using your home address. Any requests for transfer will be arranged through your home school.
Step 2: Download and complete any required forms:
· Secondary Student Registration Form
· Other documents required, If applicable:
o Direction of Tax Support form (required if property tax bill/municipal property assessment is not provided)
o Any assessments to support the student’s placement
o Staff Administration of Medication
o Self-Administration of Medication
o Medical Care Plan
o Any legal documents related to custody
Step 3: Find
and bring these supporting documents (originals required) to bring with you to
the school:

Proof of
child’s age (Birth Certificate/Passport)
· Proof of your child’s address - two documents, one from each of the categories below showing the home address;
o Category A - notice of tax assessment, current rental/lease agreement, agreement to purchase including proof of purchase provided before the pupil attends the school, or property tax bill, and
o Category B - utility bill, bank statement or other official document.
Note: Family living with
relatives or friends must provide a letter of residency from the
friend/relative, a property tax bill, and one utility bill in the name of the
friend/relative.
Step 4: Visit your home school. They will help to identify and explain any special programs available to your child.
Considerations:

Kindergarten Registration begins in January, appointments to register are not necessary.
· For information about visa students or international students contact our International Education department.
· While a new school is being built, registrations will take place at a nearby school. Please visit our New Schools on our website for more information.
· Elementary schools are closed during July and August. Please contact the Community Education Centre in your area to set up your registration appointment.
· Visit Programs and Services to register for any credit and non-credit programs offered for adults, or
elementary and secondary students.

BUR OAK REGISTRATION PACKAGES
Registration packages are available from the Guidance Office.
Generally we ask you to bring in evidence that you live within our school boundaries. Our
office hours are Monday to Friday from 7:45 am to 3:30 pm.

Once the registration package is complete, please bring all
of the documents into the guidance office. The Guidance Secretary
will make an appointment with a counsellor to complete the registration.
