Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Safety Awareness Week
|
Page Content Safety is a priority every day in YRDSB schools. The beginning of the school year is the best time to remind students of the basic principles of being and remaining safe at school and in the community. Each year YRDSB schools find ways to observe and celebrate Safety Awareness Week. Schools feature safety related activities and themes that include both the school and broader community. Safety topics like traffic, internet, personal, school bus, school playgrounds, bicycle and water safety are commonly highlighted in our schools. Safety Awareness Week also provides an opportunity to practice and improve safety drills and work with our community partners to prepare staff and students to respond in the event of an emergency at their school.
Often parents ask what they can do to support their children's learning. Safety is a great topic that carries naturally into the home and home activities. Subjects to discuss at home include: kitchen safety, fire safety, home alone, when to use 911. Check out our External Links section for more information related to safety.
