What's New!
Exam Prep/Study Skills
Mr. Green is available in the student success room (in the library) if your child requires assistance this exam season. Remember, exams begin January 24th! (THIS FRIDAY!)
Drop in Times
Grade 9 students are welcome to drop in during period 3 lunch if they need assistance with school work. Most Grade 10s have period 4 lunch, which makes a great time to seek extra help. Some students may also wish to book an appointment during other periods of the day.
Use School Time Effectively
Students are encouraged to use school time effectively and efficiently. Part of a student's lunch period can be dedicated to study or homework. Quiet work can be done in the library and group work or collaborative tasks can be done in the cafeteria. Using time properly at school can relieve much pressure on often highly scheduled individuals and reduce stress and anxiety due to procrastination.
About Student Success
The Student Success program is designed to support the achievement of each and every student. There are many different ways support is offered, but can be grouped into 4 main areas:
- Credit salvaging – support offered during the semester to help a student reach their goal for a given course.
- Credit recovery- support offered after the course is over to give a student an additional opportunity to achieve the credit that was not earned
- Transitions- Ensuring students have a safe, smooth arrival to their time as a student in high school, as well as a purposeful exit strategy upon graduation
- Daily social/emotional, attendance, and academic support – At any point, a student is welcome to meet with a Student Success Teacher to receive support to move them towards achieving the best they possibly can!
