Course Outlines

ADA1O1 -Dramatic Arts Grade 9

This course provides opportunities for students to explore dramatic forms and techniques, using material from a wide range of sources and cultures. Students will use the elements of drama to examine situations and issues that are relevant to their lives. Students will create, perform, discuss, and analyse drama, and then reflect on the experiences to develop an understanding of themselves, the art form, and the world around them.


ADA2O1 -Dramatic Arts​ Grade 10

This course provides the opportunity for students to further develop their dramatic skills, while exploring dramatic forms and techniques, using their own ideas from a wide range of genres, texts, forms and cultures. Student learning includes the identification and use of the elements of time, place, role/character, dramatic situation/tension, and structure in creating, sustaining and communicating authentic drama. Students assume responsibility for decisions made in the creation and presentation of the drama, and analyze and reflect on the experience.


ADA2OL -Dramatic Arts​ for English Language Learners

This course has been designed for English Language Learners. Students in grades 9 to 11 may select this course. This course provides opportunities for students to explore dramatic forms, conventions, and techniques while working on their communication skills. Students will explore a variety of dramatic sources from various cultures and representing a range of genres. Students will use the elements of drama in creating and communicating through dramatic works. Students will assume responsibility for decisions made in the creative and collaborative processes and will reflect on their experiences.


ADD3M1 & ADD4M1- Senior Production

The Drama Production course is designed to give students an opportunity to learn all areas of theatrical production: creative, technical, and administrative. Students will engage in producing a stage production of their own choice and take on the various positions that the workshops were based on to be performed for the National Theatre School DramaFest. This course may require some rehearsal & performances outside of class time. ​
