About Us

School Council is a group of parents, guardians, and community members that meet regularly to encourage effective parental involvement in the education of our children and provide a means of communication between all partners in education. School Council is also an advisory body that can make recommendations to the principal or the school board.

There are nine voting members that are elected at the first School Council meeting of the year, including Co-Chairs, Treasurer, Secretary, and Members at Large.  In addition, as needed, there are several sub-committees: fundraising, end-of-year Carnival, and Safety.  You do not need to hold an official position to participate in meetings or sub-committees. Whether you plan to come to run for a position, share feedback or simply learn about and become more involved in our school, you are welcome to be there.

In previous years, the School Council has organized a number of fundraisers. The funds raised from these fundraisers have been put towards the purchase of:

  • New iPads & Chrome Books
  • Recess bins
  • Buddy Benches
  • Enhanced learning resources
  • Indoor and Outdoors games
  • Student agendas
  •  New toys for the kindergarten yard
  • Snacks and beverages for graduations and special school events
  • New athletic uniforms for the Carrville Mills Cayotes
  • New water bottle filling stations
  • New books for the library
  • Anti-bullying program
