Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
Welcome to Cedarwood Public School! We are privileged to work with your children in a partnership which focuses on “student achievement and well-being”. We value strong links between our students, parents, school staff and community members. We will work together to create a community of learners at Cedarwood Public School in safe, inclusive, supportive and identity-affirming environments. We will continue to develop and implement our School Improvement Plan as a tool, reflecting identified needs, specific goals, and using culturally relevant resources and strategies best suited to improve student learning while supporting well-being.
As a school, we are committed to leading and learning with care. This includes building connections with all of our students and families, being accountable, being responsive to needs and concerns as they arise and navigating our days with empathy.
This is evident in our Cedarwood Touchstone:
Through our ongoing work as a collaborative and caring staff, we deliver quality programming and experiences to support our students’ growth and development as learners. Cedarwood Public School has established a strong tradition of excellence rooted in the active involvement of all members of the school community. We have a dedicated staff of skilled teachers and support staff who believe in teaching the whole child and taking the time to learn each child’s strengths and interests in order to connect them with their passions, be that athletics, arts, or student leadership and global activism. As a school staff, we are committed to creating the best learning environment possible for your child, one that is inviting, safe and engaging.
Please consider what your role might be as a parent, guardian, caregiver or student in improving school life. We believe strongly that student learning is enhanced when community members are engaged in school activities. One way to support your child's learning is by attending School Council meetings. This advisory body is an integral part of our school's makeup and each member offers a diverse perspective that allows for dialogue as to the common needs of our school. All parents/guardians are welcome to attend these meetings.
Once again welcome to Cedarwood Public School. We look forward to continuing to work with all members of our school community as we share the important task of educating today's dreamers and tomorrow's leaders.
Mr. J. Yoshiki Ms. P. Walker
