Safe and Supportive Schools/Character Education/Equity Education
Every student has the right to learn in a safe and supportive environment. The York Region District School Board has a Safe Schools Policy and a defined procedure to implement the policy. Both the policy and procedure support the view that student discipline involves a continuum of support including prevention, intervention and appropriate consequences.
In addition, Central Park P.S. supports the development of character education in the York Region District School Board. Central Park also offers and encourages students to understand our Board's Antiracist and Equity Policy and Procedures.  We believe all students and staff must be able to learn and work in an environment in which they are treated with respect, dignity, and understanding. One way we do this is to have staff and student representation at the Board's annual "Together We're Better Conference" each spring. The following is an overview of the school's Character Education initiatives:
  • Student Parliament (comprised of students)
  • Student awards recognizing Character Traits and monthly recognition assemblies
  • Positive Climates for Learning and Working Committee (comprised of staff and students)
  • Student recognition of each other for demonstrating good character
  • Annual Terry Fox Run and Jump Rope for Heart
  • Annual Food & Toy Drive
  • Donations to local charities
  • Student assemblies
