Dear Parents/Guardians,

On behalf of the staff, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all students and parents as we begin our 2024-2025 school year at David Suzuki Public School, here in the southern part of Markham.  The start of the school year is exciting because of the potential it holds and the promise it represents for us all!

Our Board’s renewed Mission is “To advance student achievement and well-being through public education, which motivates learners, fosters inclusion, inspires innovation and builds community” and our Vision is to “empower all students to become engaged and caring citizens of the world.”  All our staff at David Suzuki embrace the Board’s Mission and Vision and we will strive to diligently to uphold them as we work with our students. Our Board also operates based on a core set of values that guide our actions and we will work hard to impart these values to the students, explicitly teaching them character traits such as respect, responsibility, honesty, perseverance, empathy, courage, initiative, integrity, fairness and optimism. 

Ours is a diverse community and here at David Suzuki, we embrace our diversity as it makes us who we are. We value the strong relationships between students, parents, school staff and all our community members. Together we will continue to work hard and create a community of learners in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.  We encourage every student at David Suzuki to work hard, take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities that the school has to offer, continue to develop environmental responsibility as well as social responsibility, and be the best they can be! Our continued commitment to caring for the environment is a theme that will be interlaced with all that we do.​
