ALEP (Alternative Learning Education Program) is a semester-long program which combines work experience with classroom learning. The program is tailored to meet the needs of the student. Examples of how the model works include:
a) The program may consist of an in-class component where students earn a core credit such as English or Math by attending one full day per week. The rest of the week they can earn ALEP (Community Based Work Experience) credits for working in a paid/unpaid job placement.
b) The student is only working on ALEP (Community Based Work Experience) credits. This schedule will change depending on the students work schedule. Ideally the student spends part of the day/week at school (completing work place based assessments/reflections) or be in school for the mornings and at work in the afternoon.
