Common Parking Violations and Parking Information from the City of Markham

Arrivals and Departures / Kiss and Ride

The Kiss and Ride program is intended for parents/guardians who are dropping off or picking up their primary aged child(ren). It is not intended for individuals who want to leave their vehicle to walk their child(ren) to the playground or to assist their child(ren) in leaving the car. If you want to accompany your child to the fence of the playground, you must park your vehicle on the street (or in another designated space) and walk your child to the school yard.

A Reminder to our families, that our Kiss and Ride is closed every Wednesday.

There will be NO PARKING in the parking lot for parents.

In an effort to make drop-off and pick-up as orderly and safe as possible we ask that drivers respect the following rules:

1.       Obey the road rules, crosswalks, signs and speed limits.
2.       Move your vehicle up as far along the curb side of the loop as possible.
3.       Have your child(ren) enter and exit the vehicle from the curb side of the loop (exit from the RIGHT side of the vehicle ONLY).
4.       The Kiss and Ride area is one way only
5.       Your child(ren) should have their backpacks nearby to enable them to exit the vehicle quickly.
6.       Never leave your car parked, idling or unattended.

Parking

Please make note of the NO PARKING, NO STOPPING and NO U-TURN signs along Stricker Ave and Fred McLaren Blvd. If you must park, we suggest that you use Hammersley Blvd or Roy Rainey Ave and walk to school with your child.

Parking Lot

There is no parent parking permitted in the parking lot during arrival and departure times during the day. There is exception for people who have an accessibility sign in their window to use our parking.

A few ways we can reduce the congestion:
  • Walk, if possible.
  • Give your child time to get to the schoolyard on time.

Students who use bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards or scooters to travel to school:
  • Must wear a helmet.
  • Must walk while on school property.
  • Should lock bicycles on the bike rack.
  • Must store rollerblades, skateboards or scooters in their locker or backpack
