Forest of Reading

Once again this year, the students at King City Public School will be participating in the Ontario Library Association's Forest of Reading programs. The students in junior kindergarten through grade 2 will be listening to the books nominated for the Blue Spruce Award during their library periods, and doing a variety of activities based upon the books. They will be voting for their favourite book during the last week of April.

Students in grades 3 through 8 have the opportunity to join book clubs, Silver Birch Express for students in grades 3 and 4, Silver Birch for grade 5 and 7 students, and Red Maple for those in grades 7 and 8. Club members will read the nominated books independently and then meet in the library at recesses to discuss the books. Those who complete reading five of the ten nominated books will vote for their favourite at the end of April.

For lists and descriptions of the nominated books, please visit the Ontario Library Association website.
