Lester B. Pearson P.S. is named after Lester Bowles Pearson (1897-1972) Canada’s 16th Prime Minister and winner of the 1957 Nobel Peace Prize for his formulation of international policy in the post-World War II period, especially for his plan that led to the establishment of a UN emergency force in the Suez Canal area in 1956. Mr. Pearson spent part of his youth in Aurora, and was one of the guiding influences in the spread of bilingualism in Canada.
Lester B. Pearson P.S. was officially opened in 1989. We were honored to have Mr. Pearson’s son, Geoffrey in attendance.
A child-care centre, Lester B. Pearson Children's Academy, owned and operated by York Professional Day Care Inc. is located at Lester B. Pearson P.S.
