  • What level of French do I choose for my child in grade 9?
    Generally speaking, the student who is taking mostly academic courses should probably be in academic French.
  • Can my child study French after grade 9?
    Yes. French courses are offered from grade 9 through grade 12.
  • What level of fluency will my child achieve if he/she takes French up until grade 12?
    Most students who complete grade 12 French achieve a level of fluency considered by the Government of Canada as "functionally bilingual".
  • What can parents do to support their children enrolled in French language courses?
    The most important thing parents can do is to be encouraging and show interest in their child's learning. Encourage the use of French outside of the classroom (e.g. plan family trips to French-speaking cities or countries, watch French television, family excursions to French restaurants, cultural activities, request services in French, etc.)
