The English Department offers courses at all levels (Essential, Applied/College, Academic/University, Workplace, Gifted/Enriched) for students no matter what career pathway they choose.
Our vision is to foster active and responsive learning environments where students are able to engage with a variety of literacy practices for a range of purposes. Our department strives to help each student develop their ability to be critical and creative thinkers, effective meaning makers and communicators, collaborative co-learners, and innovative problem solvers.
The English Department recognizes that literacy is complex, and that effective instruction begins with the needs of the learner. Assessment within the English Department is used to highlight student strengths and target direction for both teachers and students to collaboratively set learning goals for future growth.
