Welcome Back Reesor Park Families 2022-23!

First Day of School September 7th, 2022  (Between 8:10 – 8:25 a.m.)

We would request that students in Grades 1 through 8 proceed to the back of the school and locate the sign with their grade number. Staff will be outside to meet, greet and collect students at the start of the school day. Grade 1 to 8 door entry posters will be displayed on entry doors so that you can see which door your child will enter/exit from each day.

Kindergarten staff will meet our SK (Year 2) students and families in the enclosed kindergarten fenced area at the start of school on the first day. JK (Year 1) students will have a shortened day the first day of school (families of JK students have been assigned a time of day to attend)

We would please ask that only families that have not yet registered for school come to the office on the first day of school. All other students & families should meet staff outside the school. New students and their parents (who are not on your class list/registered) should come to the office to complete the necessary forms and to be assigned to a class.

Please note that no requests for changes in class placement will be considered until the third week of September as registrations continue to come in and class re-organizations [to fulfill Ministry of education class sizes] may be required. Any class placement requests must be submitted in writing to the principal. Please note that placement changes may not be possible.

In Case of Rain on the first Day…..

Starting at 8:15 a.m. – Gr. 1 to 3 students will meet their teachers in the Library & grade 4-8 students will meet their teachers in the Gym, and our Kindergarten students will meet in the area outside of our main office.

Drop Off/Pick Up from School

Our school is a very busy place during drop-off and pick-up times. We would highly recommend and encourage you to have your children walk to school each day. Students will enter and exit the school from the same doors each day. Signs will be posted on the doors on Friday, Sept. 1st to indicate entry/exit doors by class.

If your child is responsible for picking up a younger sibling, we would suggest that they arrange a meeting spot outside the school for this purpose (i.e. entry door of the younger student, basketball net) to ensure that they are able to find each other at the end of the day.

Reesor Park Families Reminder – please sign in at the office!

Please note that parents/guardians or other visitors to Reesor Park are not permitted to enter the school to wait for their children at entry doors. All exterior doors are locked after the entry bells and all guests (including parents/guardians) must be buzzed in, and enter through the main doors of the school. Please report/sign in directly at the office at all times. We thank you for your cooperation to ensure the safety of all students & staff at our school.

Bus Students

Will be met by staff and directed to the area they should be in the morning prior to the bell ringing for entry.  Students will be escorted by staff to bus lines outside of the main office to wait until they can board their bus.

At Reesor Park, only students in kindergarten to grade eight [that meet our board’s busing eligibility requirements] are permitted to use the bus. To check the requirements click on the following link  School Bus City.  If you are eligible for busing you can confirm your child’s pick up and drop off times at the following link: Pick Up/Drop Off times

We would ask that you please inform the office and/or your child’s teacher if your child will not be riding the bus on the first day/first few days of school. This will help us to ensure that we have accurate records for departure on the first few days of school.

Stay tuned next week for information on new and returning staff to Reesor Park in our Weekly E-Bulletin.

We are excited to welcome you back to school!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Girdler

Principal, Reesor Park P.S.
