Library 201
Library
Richmond Green SS has a shared use agreement with the town of Richmond Hill for the use of the library. The Richmond Green Branch of the Richmond Hill Public Library is on site attached to the north end of the school facility.

During the school day, classes visit the library for resource-based learning experiences created and facilitated by both classroom teachers and the librarians. The library programmes actively foster literacy and the joy of reading, as well as assisting students to develop research skills that they will need for academic advancement.

The following rules and expectations are in place to ensure a quiet, clean, and comfortable workspace for students and staff.

·        Students may use the library during lunch, study hall and/or with teacher permission during class.

·        The library is reserved for students to read, study, research, collaborate on projects and/or complete homework in a quiet manner.  Please socialize in the halls or the cafeteria.

·        The Quiet Zone is reserved for students wishing to study individually and quietly. Please use the rectangular and circular tables for collaborative work.

·        No food or drink (except water) is allowed in the library.

·        All community members and RHPL staff members shall be treated with respect.

·        The library spaces are built with purpose, with the comfort of all community members and the library's operational needs in mind.

·        Every person has the right to feel safe while visiting our branches. Behavior, language, or attire that is disruptive, unlawful, disorderly, abusive, or threatening to the library team or other community members is not permitted.

Students are required to have a Richmond Hill Public Library card in order to sign out materials and access computer workstations. The computers allow students access to electronic research resources and printing.

In addition to the regular library operational hours, the Richmond Green branch is open to RGSS students Monday to Friday with early access of 8:50 a.m.
