Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

What is Student Success?
The Student Success Teacher (SST) at Stouffville District Secondary School works collaboratively with teachers and our two CYWs to support and facilitate the acquisition of credits for the struggling student by working to help keep students on track for graduation.
Working as a team, which consists of the SST, Guidance, Administration, Alternative Education, Child and Youth Care Workers, and Literacy, we strive to identify individual supports and interventions for at-risk and in-risk students. This team collaborates to initiate program and/or pathway changes, advocate for students, track progress, and liaise with board staff and community partners in support of both academic, and mental health and well-being. The classroom teacher remains the curriculum expert, and he or she will ultimately evaluate and assess the student.
The Student Success Teacher also works to support the transition of students to high school. Working with Guidance and Administration, the SST collaborates with Elementary partners to facilitate a smooth and successful transition to their new environment, both prior to entering high school and throughout their first year.
How do I access Student Success?
If you need help managing a class or classes at SDSS, your classroom teacher should always be your starting point. They can help make a referral to Student Success when needed. If you are experiencing academic difficulties in multiple courses, or if you have concerns regarding your child's social/emotional well-being that may be affecting their learning and achievement, please contact the Student Success office.
