Course selection occurs every February for the upcoming academic year.

In March, Co-op staff holds information meetings for interested co-op students, and distribute the application package. The application package consists of the application form, three teacher reference forms and a standard set of interview questions.

Once this package has been completed, students will meet with co-op staff for an interview. The interview gives the staff the ability to connect with each potential coop candidate. After the interview, staff will make a decision as to who has been approved, and every student will be notified about the results.

Co-op students are representing Vaughan Secondary School in the work world; therefore, a solid, regular attendance and a good academic performance are key considerations when staff makes the final decisions about who will be accepted into the program. In addition to this, the staff reviews the teacher references, and their views on the student doing coop.
