In the new millennium the educational basics that students require are significantly different from the basics of the past. These new technological skills are the key to the future for our students and our nation. In the past, skills development was the rationale for the implementation of technological education. It is now critical to adopt a broader approach. Technological education programs must now emphasize process as well as product. The orientation to process, rather than content, emphasizes the increasing importance of transferable skills over job specific skills. It is with this shift that technological education can provide a more relevant education for our students.

All students taking Communications Technology courses are involved in a planned sequence of task activities that are designed to explore the technical skills and knowledge required for the planning and production of an effective communication industry. Insights are developed to make the media more relevant, and skills are honed to increase students' effectiveness as communicators for the new millennium.

The Communications Technology and Design and Technology courses can automatically adapt to individual pupil differences and levels of achievement, resulting in student satisfaction and the creation of a generalist, a person capable of informed interaction with the environment.

In Technological Studies courses students will use many of the skills learned in other subject areas. Many activities and media will be synthesized in one.
