Principal's Message
Hello and welcome to all of our W.J. Watson families!
We currently have approximately 400 students attending W.J. Watson, and close to 40 staff members including teachers, early childhood educators, educational assistants, child and youth workers, health workers, childcare staff, administrative assistants and caretakers.  W.J. Watson is also proud to host community classes to provide specialized educational programming for students outside our school boundaries.  Our childcare, Whipper’s Kids, is run by Upper Canada Childcare and offers before and after care for school-age children, as well as full-day programming for children 18 months to four years old.
Each year we embark on another adventure of academic growth and exploration, and activities that support student achievement.  With our dynamic and dedicated staff, we continuously work to develop our cooperative partnerships between child, parent/guardians and educators.  We aim to help our students maintain strong mental health and develop as motivated and confident learners.    Together with our home and school partnership, we can support our students as they navigate through a world filled with endless possibilities.
This year as a school, we’re focusing on the following aspects as outlined in our School Improvement Plan:
·       Reading across the divisions
·       Mathematics
·       Self-regulation and developing a growth mindset
·       Digital literacy
A learning community requires the dedication of all stakeholders and it is our goal to work with you to make your child’s/children’s school experience a positive and happy one. We value your involvement and welcome you into our school. Please help our school continue to excel by volunteering whenever possible and by supporting our fundraising activities.  An excellent way to make your contributions to the education of your children is to attend our monthly School Council meetings to hear about school initiatives and meet other community members.
We strive to ensure open and ongoing communication with our families.  Along with our school website, we also keep a school blog that is updated throughout the week and also includes a daily calendar of events.  We also invite you to follow us on Twitter @WJWatsonPS.
We look forward to working together with our families and community to provide an excellent educational experience for all our students.  Your feedback is always welcome.  Please feel free to contact Mrs. Crossley or Ms. Murray with any thoughts, questions or concerns you may have.
Yours in Education,
Mrs. Crossley                                                                       Ms. Murray
