School Council

Education is a partnership involving parents, students, teachers, principals, community and school boards.

School councils provide advice on school matters and help to strengthen the important relationship between schools, parents/guardians and their communities.

All members of the school community are welcome to attend council meetings. Parents/guardians and community members are key to a successful school council. Getting involved gives you the opportunity to be part of a team working to ensure a high quality of education. School councils are supported in their work through various resources available online or through the school administrator.

This is just one way families can get involved to support students and schools. Learn about other things you can do to engage with your child’s learning at home and at school.

On behalf of School Council, I would like to thank all of the families who took the time to respond to the recent School Council Parent Survey. We were very pleased to see the results and were even more excited to see all of the ways in which our parent community would like to help out to enhance the learning experience for the students of Alexander Mackenzie High School.

In terms of fundraising, parents who were interested in helping out favoured events combined with a school activity and/or direct monetary donations.

In response to the preferred method, we are offering a
Silent Auction on the week of November 26 - November 30.  Prizes will be displayed in a showcase by the main office for the week and will be on display in the library during the second in the Parent Series talks on Tuesday, November 27. Please note that if you are planning on attending the talk on financing post secondary education offered by the Guidance Department and School Council, we ask that you RSVP at

If you would like to make a direct monetary donation to the school, please login to
School Cash Online and select "Make a Donation" and then select "Alexander Mackenzie High School".

Please don't hesitate to ask questions or give suggestions to School Council through our email:
