Board Policies and Procedures
All Board policies and their related procedures, where applicable, are available on our Board public website or in school offices.
We value and promote open dialogue and encourage feedback on policy issues related to the delivery of public education in York Region schools.
To ensure the policies governing the operation of the Board remain current, trustees engage in a four-year cyclical review of all Board policies. This review includes seeking feedback from members of the educational community in an equitable and transparent manner.
All policies available for comment are on the Board’s public website and sent to the Chair(s) of each school council, to be shared with members of the school community. If you feel a policy needs to be revised, please share specific wording changes with related rationale through your school council for submission to the Policy and By-Law Committee for consideration.
ARMADALE PUBLIC SCHOOL CODE OF BEHAVIOUR
Our goal is to develop students who are responsible, well-mannered, sensitive to the needs of others, self-disciplined, and proud of their accomplishments.
Successful students choose to:
· Always be courteous, respectful and responsible.
· Treat others as they would like to be treated.
· Be punctual for school and on time for all classes. Have all their work completed and submitted on time and bring everything they will need to each class.
· Wear the required Armadale uniform to school.
· Enjoy their free time. Play only games and activities which DO NOT involve rough play or endanger the safety of others.
· Finish their work. Plan ahead. Do their genuine best.
· Participate in extracurricular activities. Develop a sense of fair play. Learn to cooperate with students and staff.
· Help others and seek help when needed.
· Demonstrate their concern for the environment. Use the garbage and recycling containers provided to keep our environment neat and clean.
Students choosing inappropriate behaviour will result in a logical consequence. The following consequences may be used:
• Discussion/written assignment
• Temporary withdrawal of privileges
• Parental involvement
• Replacement of damaged/lost materials
• Temporary removal from class
• Suspension
• Expulsion
Please see the section on Safe, Caring and Supportive Schools in the “Guide to the 2013-14 School Year for Students and Parents”, for specific details related to more formal consequences for more severe behaviour.
