Beverley Acres P.S. is committed to supporting the Board's literacy focus under the three Board focus areas of Quality Schools, Building Family and Community Capacity and Quality Workplaces.
The following is an outline of our School Plan for Continuous Improvement including highlights of some of the strategies to support student achievement.
- Promote high standards of learning through a focus on French communication, literacy, numeracy and information technology
- Reinforce frequent and effective communication among staff, students and parents
- Promote a community environment that is purposeful, inclusive and supportive
Staff and parents developed the Homework Policy. The expectation is that students of all grades will have regular homework. The recommended guideline for homework quantity is as follows: ten minutes x grade + additional time for personal reading.
Staff and parents also developed the Code of Behavior. It is designed to outline for students, parents and staff the many rights and responsibilities which are expectations of the school. We also promote parent education through Literacy Evenings, Family Math and Parenting Workshops.
Students are recognized for academic success at the end of each reporting period. Academic excellence certificates are awarded to the students who have achieved the highest standards in various subjects in their class.
