Recognizing that a parent/guardian is a child’s first teacher, at Buttonville PS, we believe it is essential to have positive partnerships between home and school. A strong partnership between the two supports student success and well-being at school. 

As a school community, we are always working hard as a team to provide challenging and engaging learning opportunities to make the curriculum accessible to all students and support academic success. We are always striving to find new ways to make sure students and families feel welcomed, affirmed, and that they truly belong at Buttonville. Everyone learns better when they feel safe and valued as part of a learning community.

As part of the learning process, we support students to become critical thinkers, to develop their collaboration and communication skills, and to be reflective learners. The goal is to nurture an environment that promotes respect for other people’s ideas, opinions and identities. Simultaneously, we are supporting students to articulate their own ideas and to think critically about the messages that surround them daily. 

In addition, we will continue to stay current in evidence-based strategies to promote learning in the areas of literacy and mathematics, working with our students to develop their knowledge and skills. We aim to provide a challenging and engaging learning environment focused on student achievement and well-being in all areas of the curriculum. As a staff, we have high expectations for students and know with the right support, all students can succeed.
