Buttonville P.S. supports student learning through the curriculum standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education and through many co-curricular activities.
Our school:
- promotes a safe and supportive learning environment through its support and compliance with the Board's Safe Schools Policy and Procedures, Equity Policy and the Character Matters! Initiative;
- provides Special Education programs;
- encourages field trips as an integrated part of the curriculum; and
- offers students a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.

Safe and Supportive Schools/Character Education/Equity Education
Every student has the right to learn in a safe and supportive environment. The York Region District School Board has a Safe, Caring and Supportive Schools policy with defined procedures to implement this important policy. Both the policy and the procedures support the view that student discipline involves a continuum of support including prevention, intervention and appropriate consequences. Buttonville P.S. has its own Code of Behaviour that outlines expected behaviour for students and staff, inappropriate behaviour and consequences for inappropriate behaviour. Our Code of Behaviour is consistent with the policy and procedures defined by the Board. The school also supports and complies with the Board's Equity and Inclusivity Policy to provide equal educational opportunities for all.
