Coppard Glen P.S. is committed to supporting the Board's literacy focus under the three Board focus areas of Quality Schools, Building Family and Community Capacity and Quality Workplaces.
The following is an outline of our school's Plan for Continuous Improvement including highlights of some of the strategies to support student achievement.
"Students will confidently and independently apply grade appropriate literacy skills in all subject areas. Staff will participate in school wide P.D. sessions and/or a variety of learning teams to enhance professional knowledge in the area of teaching a balanced literacy program. To improve student learning in literacy, staff will have the opportunity to learn more about effectively using a variety of: instructional strategies, assessment and evaluation strategies, and strategies to address all learners (E.S.L., Special Education students, at risk students, boys and girls.)"
A team of teachers, community members and parents has been working together to fine tune the foci for our school plan. Members meet monthly to ensure that the plan is being adhered to and concerns are addressed readily.
Our School Plan for Continuous Improvement is currently being reevaluated with the input of our school council, parent partners and staff member. Our focus remains to improve student achievement particularly in literacy and through assessment practices. We continue to develop partnerships which enhance our school/parent/community relationships and are dedicated to the work of our Character Education team.
