The Peace Tree Spirit Conference brings students and educators across the region together to interact, explore and experience diversity, equity and inclusivity.
The 8th annual Peace Tree conference focused on inclusive education for Grade 5 and 6 students. This year’s theme, “thinking globally – acting locally,” was embedded in various workshops for students and educators. Educators participated in a workshop about First Nations and Metis Inuit education. Student workshops were designed to align with the Ontario equity and inclusivity strategy plan.
Some examples of the student workshops include “7 Habits of Happy Kids,” “Critically Thinking about Super Heroes,” and “Empowering Girls around the World.” The keynote speaker will discuss “First Nations Character Education.”
