The Forest of Reading Program at HGB!

Our big focus at the library this winter is the Forest of Reading program!

The Forest of Reading is Canada's largest reading program. It is coordinated by the Ontario Library Association (OLA), which encourages people of all ages to participate in reading programs across the country. The books reflect Canadian content, promote Canadian publishers, support Canadian authors and illustrators.

Library Books.jpgOur book clubs begun in January. Students are reading wonderful stories, participating in a variety of literacy activities and sharing their thoughts and opinions with their peers. Once they’ve read at least 5 books in each program, participants will vote for their favourite book in the spring. They will join more than 250,000 other readers in casting their vote and sharing their voice!

Our reading clubs will meet at lunch in library:

  • Tuesdays for our Grade 1s and 2s in the Blue Spruce Reading Club
  • Wednesday for our Grades 3s to 6s in the Silver Birch Reading Club
  • Thursdays for our Grade 7s and 8s in the Red Maple Reading Club

Happy reading!
