Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Full Day Kindergarten Registration begins in the Spring. Please contact the school office for more information.
The following information is available to support parents:
- Junior/Senior Kindergarten Parent Questionnaire: This questionnaire gathers information about the child and family; the original is placed in the OSR.
- Little Children Big Steps - Kindergarten Information - This brochure provides a broad overview of the Kindergarten Program and activities parents can use to support their child’s learning.
- Talk With Your Child in Your First Language - This booklet provides helpful information to families about the importance of continued development of first languages. This booklet has been provided to us in 12 translated languages and can be ordered in chosen languages as required Please identify the quantity required for each language: Vietnamese, Chinese, French, Somalian, Farsi, Arabic, Punjabi, Urdu, Korean, Russian, and Tamil.
- Eye See Eye Learn - This parent pamphlet was developed by the Ontario Association of Optometrists, to encourage parents of Junior Kindergarten students, to get their children’s eyes checked for free at participating optometrists’ offices. Students who require them will also be eligible for a free pair of high-quality prescription eye glasses. This pamphlet is available in 13 languages including: Punjabi, Farsi, Urdu, Tamil, Hindi, Arabic, Gujarati, Chinese S, Spanish, Bengali, Singhalese, Vietnamese, and Russian. The translations are available on the Eye See…Eye Learn website at: www.EyeSeeEyeLearn.ca and can be downloaded.
- Full-Day Kindergarten – A Question and Answer Guide for Parents (For schools implementing FDK including schools that will begin the program this fall). Beginning Full-Day Kindergarten is an exciting time for both children and parents. To help families learn more about how Full-Day Kindergarten works and how it will help their child to learn, grow and play, this parent guide has been developed by the Ministry of Education to share with Kindergarten families.
