Student Council
February was such a busy month with a wide variety of exciting activities. The students definitely enjoyed every single activity!

On February 6th and 7th, Student Council held Candy Gram sales for students in all grades to purchase for their friends or even teachers, to show their caring and appreciation. Student Council was very honored to raise money from these sales for the upcoming grade eight graduation.

Valentine’s Day was a wonderful Pink, Red, and White spirit day and the Valentine’s spirit could be seen throughout the school.

On February 15th, Student Council also arranged
Little Rouge’s annual Winter Games that was held all day long, with indoor and outdoor activities which
students loved! Students had a blast participating in a wide variety of team building activities like the Scavenger Hunt, Over and Under, and even Capture The Snowballs!  As always, the waffles and hot chocolate were enjoyed by all. Student Council and staff were so happy to see smiles on everyones’ faces! What a memorable day!

Student Council can’t wait to provide more fun activities in March.

On Tuesday October 31st, Student Council organized a successful Halloween dance for all divisions in the gym for all grades. Students had such a blast participating in a wide variety of activities in the gym like a pumpkin bean bag toss for the kindergarteners, limbo and ghost run for the primary division, just dance for the junior division, and a dance off for the
intermediate division!  Student Council was so impressed to see so many students wearing their creative Halloween costumes, or orange and black and to see so many students participating and having a great time with their friends.

Student Council is looking forward to providing more exciting school spirit days and events
throughout the year!

The LRPS Student Council is made up of the Executive and the Class Reps. The Executive members are intermediate students who have applied and interviewed for the positions of Co-Chair, Events Coordinators, Treasurer and Secretary. As well, each junior and intermediate class elects 2 Class Reps to serve as a liaison between their class and the Student Council.
The role of the Student Council members:

  • Co-Chairs – set meeting agendas, run the Student Council meetings and events, and serve as the liaison between the Student Council, other school clubs, the principal and other teachers.
  • Events Coordinators – gather and generate ideas for school events and spirit days, plan and oversee Student Council events.
  • Treasurer – oversee any money collection, track profits and expenses and participate in leading Student Council events.
  • Secretary – keep minutes from the meetings and copy any necessary handouts for events or Student Council members.  They also participate in leading any Student Council events.
  • Class Reps – bring classroom ideas and concerns to the Student Council and share upcoming events with their class.

The Student Council Executive meets every week and the Class Reps attend a full council meeting once or twice a month as needed, depending on the events planned for that month. To date, Student Council has run various events including several Spirit Days, such as
  • Pajama Day
  • Halloween dance
  • 2nd annual Winter Games
