DECA
Once again, Markville's DECA chapter had an outstanding year. Despite the restrictions of virtual competitions, our students worked hard, trained effectively, and performed at the highest level. An amazing 37 students won an unbelievable 85 awards at the Provincial Championships and 12 Markville students qualified for the pinnacle of DECA competitions: ICDC!

DECA international Competition (ICDC)
Markville's DECA chapter had an amazing year! 41 of our students travelled to Orlando, Florida to compete against over 21,000 students from all over the world. After participating in the final round of competition, 9 of our students finished in the top 10 of their event. Of these, there were 9 top ten finishers, 6 earned a top three finish and brought home a DECA "glass" trophy!

2013-2014 - Markville Shines @ DECA
56 competitors qualified in Februrary 2014 for the provincial competition in downtown Toronto. 8 of these students then qualified for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Atlanta, Georgia in May 2014. Congratulations to J. Sheng and the team of L. Gong, S. Bablani and J. Kaur for placing in the top 10 of their respective events.
2014 - First Place Finish @ JA Titan Challenge
In May 1014, Mr. Rao's grade 10 business class travelled to IBM to compete in the 5th annual Junior Achievement Titan Challenge. Congratulations to the team of R. Chan, J. Capulong, K. Fung and L. Zhou as they placed 1st at the competition. Each student was awarded a $500 post-secondary scholarship to an institution of their choice.
2013 - COIN Accounting ContestCongratulations to S. Ouyang from Ms Li’s Grade 12 Accounting class. He placed 5th on the Honour Roll in Ontario for the 2013 COIN Accounting Competition organized by the Chartered Accountants Association.
2012 - CMA Win $ 5000 Contest
The "Start Living Today" Group from Ms Li's Grade 12 Accounting class was selected the winner of the CMA $5,000 School Proposal Contest! The award of $5000 was presented to Markville at the graduation ceremony in June 2012. The group consisted of J. Szeto, K. Li, J. Au and C. Wang.
2011-2012 - Young Entrepreneur Award
W. Yang was 1 of 3 finalists among all high school student submissions winning a YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR award with his Business Plan in the Secondary School Business Plan Competition held by The Town of Markham and the Markham Small Business Centre.
2011 - CMA Win $ 5000 Contest The “Green Education” Accounting proposal written by a group of five Grade 12 Accounting students was selected the winner of the CMA Secondary School $5,000 School Proposal Contest for 2011. The group consisted of R. Wong, E. Yu, G. Hu, A. Don, and J. Chan. Through the proposal, they demonstrated their originality and creativity of ideas; the adherence to the accounting, management and strategy guidelines provided for the contest; and their ability to convince the judges they would be able to implement their proposal successfully. The award of $5,000 to implement their proposal was presented to Markville at the Graduation Ceremony.
2011 - COIN Accounting Contest
I. Lung won the COIN Accounting Competition organized by the C.A. Association. She was one of the top 30 in Ontario.
2011 - OBEA Accounting Contest
L. Luo ranked #4, out of 424 students, in the OBEA contest.
2008 - COIN Accounting Contest
C. Tan won the COIN Accounting Competition organized by the C.A. Association. He was the recipient of the All-Ontario Top Honour Roll and the 2nd place York Distinct Association Winner.
