OUR HISTORY MeadowbrookWildcats-Web.jpg

Meadowbrook P.S. was named in a contest. A student, Scott Mallory, won the “Name the School” contest for students in East Gwillimbury. Scott’s award-winning name for this last school built by The East Gwillimbury School Board was Meadowbrook. The design and philosophy of the school was controversial in the neighbourhood and the Town, given that it was built with a unique open-concept design. The school building was to be ready for September 1968 but it was not completed on time. School had to begin at the St. John Chrysostom Roman Catholic Church education building on Main and Ontario Streets. To accommodate the students they attended in shifts, Primary and Junior students from 8-12 a.m. and Intermediate from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. By December the school was ready. The first Principal was Dr. Art Boynton.
