Welcome to the Department of International Languages!
Discover a world of opportunities, learn a language!
At Middlefield Collegiate Institute, we encourage our students to learn and continue the study of languages in secondary school and beyond. Languages are the gateway to the world beyond our doorstep. Not only do students learn to communicate better with people in Canada and in the rest of the world, but studying languages also builds understanding of different people and cultures and provides great job opportunities!
Knowing French, Canada’s 2nd official language, is particularly important for young Canadians. It opens pathways to more career opportunities, and students who learn French are at an advantage when looking for work and are more likely to be paid more. Read on for more details!
