Principal's Message

We would like to take a moment to welcome our new and returning families to the 2023-2024 school year at Poplar Bank Public School! Bienvenue à l’année scolaire 2023-2024!

As the school year begins, I would like to thank you for a wonderful year last year. It was amazing to be a part of the Poplar Bank Pride. As the school returned to more normal operations, I was so thankful to be able to see our students and staff learning, working, and growing together. Poplar Bank truly felt like a second family, and it was wonderful to come in to work every day. I am looking forward to another amazing year ahead, learning with and from staff, students, and families.

As you know, M. Totten retired in June, and we wish him all the best in his new adventures. I am very pleased to be welcoming Mme Amber Kilpatrick to the administration team as our new Vice-Principal at Poplar Bank. Mme Kilpatrick comes to us with a wealth of knowledge in the areas of Equity and Inclusive Schools, Student Engagement, and Indigenous learning partnerships. We look forward to working with her this year.

As the year begins, if you have questions about your child’s learning and progress please do not hesitate to reach out to the teachers. We believe that the family-school relationship is a key to success, and look forward to working as a team to support our learners. We also invite all families to read our family weekly newsletters. These newsletters are sent out to all families on Friday afternoons, and are a great way to learn more about what is going on at Poplar Bank and throughout the York Region District School Board.

Best regards,

Melanie Chamberland
