School Goals
Redstone P.S. is committed to supporting the Board’s literacy focus under the three Board focus areas of Quality Schools, Building Family and Community Capacity and Quality Workplaces.
The following is an outline of our school Improvement Plan including highlights of some of the strategies to support student achievement.
Curriculum Implementation and Student Learning
In Curriculum Implementation and Student Learning, our priority is to have students make connections between Reading and Writing. Our specific goals are: (i) to have students read,integrating all comprehension skills and strategies. (ii) to decrease the gap between boys’ and girls’ reading levels (iii) to have students communicate clearly in writing and precisely for specific purposes.
Safe and Effective Schools
In Safe and Effective Schools, our priority is to maintain a safe and orderly school that serves our diverse population. Our specific goals are: (i) to increase student responsibility for positive attitudes, character development and appropriate behaviours within the school community (ii) to ensure that students are informed of and sensitive to the cultural diversity of the Redstone Public School community.
Parent and Community Involvement
In Parent and Community Involvement, our priority is to strengthen the partnerships between home, school and community. Our specific goals are: (i) to improve communication between home and school (ii) to engage parents as partners in supporting their children’s learning.
