RGSS is a Specialist High Skills Major school for Construction.

This means we offer enrichment opportunities to students who take a bundle of courses in Technological Design, Construction and Woodworking, along with an industry-specific co-op.

Graduates of this program receive a specialized Ontario Secondary School Diploma, which indicates their advanced standing in this subject area. The SHSM OSSD is a strong indicator to post-secondary institutions of a student's commitment, learning and readiness.

In addition to the diploma, students receive a variety of program enhancements and opportunities during their grade 11 and grade 12 years, such as industry certifications (at no cost to the student), field trips, guest speakers, dual credit Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program courses (at no cost to the student), etc.

Our students compete and place regularly in the YRDSB Skills Challenge and Skills Ontario competitions in carpentry and technological design.
