Student Expectations

In the spirit of a respectful workplace we support student expectations as outlined in the Student Agenda Book.

  1. You may drink water while working in the Library.  The exception to this occurs when you’re working at the computers. Please consume all other food and drinks in the cafeteria because some foods pose a health risk to others.
  2. According to school board policy, computers are to be used for school work.  Computers should not be used for personal interests, including streaming videos, video games, YouTube and social media.
  3. You may use your personal laptop and electronic device (muted) while working in the Library, but this does not include camera, texting and phone functions.
  4. Please work quietly while in the Library.  Why?  To be considerate of others.  We have designated areas of study—carrels for quiet and individual study; tables and computers where a low conversational voice is expected; and the fiction area where quiet is appreciated.
  5. No more than 4 students per table.  Why?  More than 4 students at each table generates noise and leaves no room for anyone to work.
  6. Quality work is difficult to accomplish in a messy workspace.  Please help us keep the Library clean by tidying your work area before you leave.  Please put garbage in the appropriate containers, recycling whenever possible.
Your co-operation with these expectations will help us to keep our Library a pleasant place for students to work.

If you are not following these expectations, your teacher or the teacher-librarian will remind you about them.  However, if you continue to ignore the expectations, you will be asked to leave.
