Working on AP Portfolios (Drawing, 2D and 3D Designs Portfolios)
Dear Pre-AP and AP Portfolio Students,
Welcome to the AP Arts and Design Advanced Portfolio Studio!
This course will help you work on Advanced Placement Portfolios and have them ready for submission to College Board for evaluation. You will also participate in Art workshops and field trips that focus on step-by-step demonstrations to help you build an advanced Visual Arts and Media Design skill set. The Portfolio Studio is a great opportunity for students working in all artistic disciplines such as, though not limited to, visual arts, film, music, jewellery, fashion, graphic design, animation and game design.
We will be working together on developing your Drawing Portfolios, AP 2-D and 3-D Portfolios.
The final assessment for AP Studio Art Portfolios is not based on a written exam; instead, students submit portfolios for evaluation at the end of the school year. All AP portfolios are assessed on Quality in a student’s work and Sustained Investigation of materials, processes, and ideas. The student’s work should reflect these two areas of concern: quality and sustained investigation through a 15 piece body of work. Since the course is a rigorous introduction to college studio art courses, students will need to work outside the classroom, maintain a sketchbook or a journal, and participate in ongoing group and individual critiques.
Portfolio Requirements in 2023-24: The portfolio requirements for all portfolio types are the same as in previous years:
•Sustained Investigation (60% of total score): 15 digital images
•Selected Works (40% of total score): 5 works
3-D Art, 2-D Art and Design and Drawing: Students will submit their Portfolios online.
